Choose to Adopt

Posted by Legacy Realty on Oct 15, 2019 in Learn Something New

Christmas 2019 will be here before you know it!

If you're considering getting your son, daughter, or grandchild a furry friend for the holiday, PLEASE consider adopting from your local shelter or rescue instead of going to a nearby pet store. You'll definitely save money but, MORE IMPORTANTLY, you'll be giving a homeless dog, cat, bunny or any other one of God's creatures a loving "Forever Home".

Rescue organizations may specialize in specific breeds of dogs, cats. etc.. Whether you want a Labrador Retriever, Himalayan, or Lop Earred you can find a rescue specializing in your breed of preference. Or maybe you're not concerned about the pedigree, rather you prefer specifically a large, small, active, healthy, or "kid friendly" type critter. You can find whatever it is your looking for at various rescue organizations. Some of the local shelters will evern work with you if you make them aware of your specific desires.

Below, you'll find links to local shelters and rescue organizations. If you don't find what you're looking for, just Google the type pet you want and put the word "Rescue" on the end. The AKC and Pet Finder websites provide a wealth of information regarding characteristics of specific breeds, this may help you identify the pet best suited for your family. Search results might just surprise you so PLEASE consider adoption as the better option.
